The Old Ceremony Moves On
first of all, thanks to everyone who came down to the wine bar shows. we envisioned a certain kind of vibe that we were trying to create with them, and it was seriously exciting to see it actually come to fruition even better than we had imagined. as you know, it was pretty dang crowded in there and hard for some people in the middle and the front (by the entrance) to see/hear the band, so we're scouting for new locations for the next shows. it looks like we may do a short residency in raleigh next - details to come. stay tuned.
the other thing we're up to is planning some more recording. there are two sets worth of material that we've been playing, and i for one am dying to make a decent record of it. and with the newer additions to the sound (trumpet, sax, female vocals, accordion, violin) it's going to be one helluva sound.
we're looking into getting a message board for theoldceremony.com, but in the meantime, feel free to use this space here to discuss all things TOC, music, politics or whatever. mi blog es tu blog.

this last show was even better than the rest. you make beautiful music. i had a great time. what are you doing next?
we're currently deciding where to take the show next. most likely we'll do some shows in raleigh, and then bring it back to chapel hill. also, as i mentioned, recording.
happy new year everyone! hey django, what's the word on the new IO recordings? its exciting to hear we might get to hear some new stuff soon:)
well, we've got eight new songs recorded - i'm hoping to put at least a couple of em up on the website soon while we're figuring out how many more to record and what to do with the whole thing. then at least everyone who's interested can hear some of it (especially those who live in far-flung areas where we haven't toured and wouldn't be able to hear these songs at all otherwise).
hey you.. i met you on new years.. and saw you before hugh's show.. and i met matt who is also in your band. wtf- i need to hear your music before i meet the entire band.. i am hoping to make it up for the show with thad.
rock n roll :)
yeah django, throw up some of those new tracks! the world needs some brand new IO:)
and who's matt?
The Old Ceremony at the Cradle on Feb. 12?!? i can not wait!!! it is going to be great. I will be there at 9pm (or before) right in the front waiting for the whole thing to blow me away...
and brad -
matt is the bassist in The Old Ceremony, Django's other band. you should check out their website at theoldceremony.com ... they are amazing...REALLY.
i've only heard the demos that were put up, but they rock!
hey katie, good to hear from you. yeah, you need to check out both bands (IO & TOC) - the old ceremony is playing (as roxy apparently has already surmised) the cradle on feb 12th, and then at the wine bar again feb 17 & 24. there are plans to get the oc up to nyc and dc, but it'll be later in the spring.
and brad, yes, you're right, i know, IO needs to get some live trax up at the site like we've been promising. we had a recent show at the cat's cradle which apparently the sound guy recorded and has a good copy of, and we're trying to get our hands on it to see if we can put that up there. in the meantime, the OC has been recording too (see blog entry above) and there's at least one new track up at that site to check out ("ole").
